I think we can all agree that living in a beautifully designed space, be it a tiny home on wheels or a conventional fixed home, makes the experience better. Today, I'm checking out an RV that was converted into a stunning mobile abode that cleverly blends aesthetics and practicality.
It might not seem like it, but aesthetics play a significant part in influencing how we feel. That's why the interior design industry is so big – from the color of the walls to the flooring materials, every seemingly insignificant detail plays its part.

When it comes to tiny homes on wheels, I've noticed that some builders prefer taking care of the practical side rather than focusing on looks. But what if you can do both? Well, if you have the talent to support this process, you can certainly do it.

The RV I'm writing about today is an example of the perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality. Meet Amelia and Dave, the owners and converters of this 2014 Heartland Gateway fifth-wheel trailer.

At first glance, there's no indicator that there's something special about this RV. It measures 37 feet (11 meters) in length and comes with three slide-outs. Like on many other RVs, you'll also notice a large awning and spacious exterior compartments.

Once you step inside, you'll discover the real transformation. The thing with RVs is they typically have outdated interiors, even those that are just 10 years old, like this one. If you want one with a good–looking interior, consider a newer RV; however, be prepared for your bank account to take a bigger hit.

Since I just mentioned costs, you should know that this couple got the RV for a great price – they purchased it from a dealership in Detroit and paid $23,000 (€21,391) for it. The couple invested an additional $10,000 to $12,000 (€9,236 to €11,192) into the conversion, bringing the total cost to around $35,000 (€32,643) -that's a fantastic deal considering all they have inside.

When renovating an older rig, you don't even have to clear away the interior. Of course, starting with a blank slate lets you do whatever you want with it. But if you're looking to cut costs, you can transform the interior by keeping some of the furniture that's already installed. That's what Amelia and Dave did. I attached a picture in the gallery so you can see what the living room used to be like before the transformation.

The entrance is on the passenger side of the rig. Step inside, and you'll be in a hallway connecting the kitchen and living rooms to the bathroom and bedroom at the front. Dead ahead, you'll discover a "drop zone" with a shoe storage spot, a tiny countertop, and a wall-mounted key hanger.

Starting from the rear part of the interior, you'll discover a large and open space that feels straight out of a conventional home. The kitchen is very well-equipped – it features a massive acrylic sink, a large fridge/freezer, an oven/stove combo, a vent hood, an overhead microwave, and a spice rack.

There are countless storage spaces, probably more than most people would need. A large kitchen island offers a ton of counter space and extra storage spots.

The aesthetics are on point as well – you'll notice pale green cabinetry paired with white upper cabinets, a stunning tiled backsplash, and golden touches.

Next, we have the living room at the very rear of the interior. It boasts a couch on one side and a large TV on the other, as well as an extra couch near the rear wall. This entire area is very well-lit due to the man windows surrounding it.

You'll also see man overhead cabinets with beautiful rattan inserts. Furthermore, the countertops under the TV and by the couches are finished in concrete for a cool look. All these design touches blend in beautifully with the white cabinets and walls, giving the area a cozy and bright feel.

If the duo wants to accommodate guests onboard or lounge more comfortably, they can extend one of the couches to create a bed.

The final spot in this part of the rig is a dining area. It consists of an L-shaped bench upholstered in brown marine vinyl and a large swivel table.

Walk deeper into the interior through the hallway, and you'll find my favorite part: the bathroom. It's better than many of the bathrooms I've seen in conventional homes, comprising a large bathtub with a vintage-looking shower, a skylight, a round mirror, a superb gold sink, a toilet, and a lot of storage space.

The most eye-catching detail in the bathroom is a massive vinyl wallpaper depicting plants. Although it is somewhat water resistant, Amelia and Dave added three coats of marine boat varnish to ensure they'll have no issues.

By the way, water in this rig is provided by a 30-gallon (113-liter) freshwater tank, and it ends up in two greywater tanks of the same size. Given this RV's dimensions, I feel like the duo could've fitted a larger freshwater tank, but it seems this one does the job for them. What's more, the trailer is equipped with a 30-gallon blackwater tank for the toilet.

The final part of the living space is the bedroom, which is located on a slide-out. Just like the kitchen, it offers many storage spots, including an enormous closet with rattan inserts and six drawers, another closet with a mirrored sliding door, and a shoe cabinet holding a TV.

Other notable features are a spacious bed, two nightstands, a striking custom headboard made from interweaved fabric pieces, and a unique plant wall.

All in all, Amelia and Dave have done a fantastic job with this RV's renovation. It's aesthetically pleasing, packs countless creature comforts, and almost makes you forget you're in a tiny home on wheels. The cherry on top is that the entire build wasn't even that expensive, costing about as much as a professional camper van conversion (prices for those can go even significantly higher).
