If you are a car lover, there's a very good chance you've had fantasies with the Lamborghini Countach. Sadly, because it was not made in all that great numbers, and also because it was (and is) incredibly expensive, most of us were only left with fantasizing. That can change, though, at the beginning of July, when the cheapest Countach ever made will hit the market.
The Countach is the name that needs little introduction. Italian carmaker Lamborghini let it loose back in 1974 as an exotic ride the likes of which we're used to from this crew, sporting the iconic Bertone-designed Italian wedge shape, the scissor doors, and of course the potent engines that hid under the hood.

The model is no longer around, having been discontinued in 1990, but the examples already made are still in the news, some of them continuously changing hands for huge amounts of cash. The most expensive one that we know of, one of the two models used to film scenes in the Wolf of Wall Street movie, went for $1,655,000 in December last year.

But there's a kind of Countach that is way, way cheaper than that, and can be had by pretty much everyone. Granted, it's not a real Lamborghini, but a plastic brick replica of one, but hey, at least some of our dreams will partially come true.

Enter the LEGO Lamborghini Countach LP5000 Quattrovalvole (QV), the most recent entry in the Danish toy maker's Icons lineup. Something that will be available for just $179.99 and will definitely bring motoring history right into your home or office.

The LP5000 Quattrovalvole is one of five variants of the Countach made over the years. It was introduced in 1985 with a revised V12 engine that rocked a longer stroke and larger bore and was capable of developing 449 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Most importantly, the engine got four valves per cylinder, hence the Quattrovalvole name chosen for it. Only 610 examples of them were ever made.

LEGO, on the other hand, will probably make scores of the Icons QV. Each will come together after fans carefully click together 1,506 plastic pieces, which will end up forming a small Countach that measures 3.5 inches (nine cm) high and 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) long.

The toy comes complete with a detailed cockpit that holds a working steering wheel (that actually turns the deep-dish wheels), but also a working trunk and rear hood. The telltale scissor doors of the real Countach are, of course, included in the deal, and so is the V12 engine.

LEGO says the Icons Countach will become available for insiders on July 1, with the rest of the world to get access to it on July 4.
