Now that the last E92 BMW M3 has rolled off the production line, the Germans don’t want to keep their range waiting for the gap to be filled, so they’re working overtime to complete the development of the F82 M4.
Our spy shooters have recently captured the M4 Coupe lapping the Nurburgring and, as you can see in the adjacent images, the engineers were pushing the car very, very hard.
BMW could introduce the concept for the M4 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance next month, but the Frankfurt Motor Show in September is a much more certain scenario.
The BMW M4 isn’t expected to outrun its predecessor by means of brute force. The car will provide superior performance, but thanks to a better power-to-weigh ratio. The vehicle will be lighter, while power will come from a new three-liter, 6-cylinder turbocharged unit delivering at least 400 HP.
At least for the beginning of its life, the BMW M4 won’t come with xDrive, but this could make its way onto the car later on in its life.
