Spanish manufacturer Izaro Motors had just revealed the first details and images of a new electric supercar, that is likely to compete against the Tesla Roadster. Dubbed Izaro GT-E, the car follows the Spaniards’ entry in the supercars segment with Spano GTA, and is rumored to have a starting price of EUR55,000. Needless to say, this is under Tesla Roadster’s price tag.

The Izaro GT-E will come available in two power unit variants: a hybrid version, which will provide a total power of 416 horsepower and a range of up to 429 miles, and a full electric one that will develop no less than 495 horsepower, but at a much lower range, of only 155 miles.

The vehicle’s weight will be relatively low (1,000 kg), due to intensive use of aluminum and magnesium in chassis construction, as well as other lightweight materials for body panels. The manufacturer promises a maximum speed of 174 mph/ 280 km/h (compared with only 124 mph / 200 km/h for Tesla Roadster) and a 0-60 mph (0 - 100 km/h) sprint in just 4 seconds.

There is also information that the cars will be made to order. The interior can be trimmed with any material - carbon, wood, Alcantara, aluminium or leather according to client's choice.

However, full details are expected to be revealed on August 28, when the company will hold a press conference to introduce the Izaro GT-E to the world. We just have to wait and see whether the new Spanish electric supercar will be a serious rival to Tesla’s Roadster. The latter is only available in electric mode, with the power unit capable of developing 248 hp and go for 244 miles on a single charge.
