Thanks to strong opposition from premium German cars and slowing demand for their estates, Volvo was not doing so well for a while. But this Swedish company… well it's not the sort of brand you can ever kill.
Thanks to its model revisions, Volvo is coming back stronger than ever in 2014 and at the same time enthusiasts' love is blossoming all over the internet. You guys have seen "LOLVO", the funky review that makes absolutely no sense, but have you seen "My Volvo"?
It's an awesome rap music video made by a young guy about his mother's Volvo estate. It looks like a 200 Series, probably an US-spec 240, given the rapper says it's "born in '86."
"I'll probably die in my Volvo." – Yeah, sure. Nobody's ever going to die in a Volvo, not unless it's of boredom.
That's not the only interesting bit though. If you watch the video really carefully, you'll notice one Seattle artist by the name Ben Haggerty. That's right, it's Macklemore.
Now, in 2010, Macklemore wasn't famous yet, which would explain why he's making this cameo appearance. "Thrift Shop" rocketed him to fame and fortune three years later, but in March 2010, when the Volvo rap video was made, he came out with "Stay At Home Dad", not his most famous work by any means.
It's not the first time we associated Macklemore with cars. About a year ago, Thrift Shop was turned into a cool little rap about a Hyundai Veloster by the cool cats at CarThrottle.
Editor's note: V-O-L-V-O, my Volvo!
