Britain’s sportscar industry isn’t what it used to, but there’s still some strength in the Nobles, McLarens or Caterhams made there. But some people still fancy a good import, and to stand out in a see of Lambos and Ferraris at your regular concours, there’s nothing better than a bit of American muscle.
What we have here is one very yellow example of the blue-collar supercar, the GT40, not the 2006 car, but the original, built to take on the Ferraris at Le Mans. Back in the 1960s, one of these would have set you back £7,253, which might sound cheap, but it was 15 times price of an entry level Ford Anglia. This earned it the named 'the most expensive Ford ever'.
