Before the semiconductor crisis and inflation left their mark on the used car market, one could buy a nice Lamborghini Gallardo or a first-generation Audi R8 for roughly $50,000. Nowadays, such models usually retail for close to six digits and often slightly more, so now you know what to blame for the fact that there are no supercars parked in your garage.
Mind you, if you know where to look and are patient enough, then you could still land a blue-blooded exotic for the equivalent of a used high-end muscle car. And it doesn't have to be an old model either, like the Ferrari 360, as in this case, we found a second-gen Audi R8 that hasn't clocked that many miles since it was made five years ago, and which doesn't cost a proverbial arm and leg.

Available immediately, it is a 2018 Audi R8 V10 RWS, according to the ad on Garage Kept Motors, with just shy of 20,000 miles (~32,000 km) under its belt. Finished in Daytona Gray Pearl, it has an Express Red interior, with the lively upholstery wrapped around the seats, steering wheel, center console, and door cards. The rest of the cabin features a black look and the occasional carbon fiber trim, and it is a very clean example all around.

RWS usually stands for rear-wheel steering, but in this case, Audi says it means Rear Wheel Series. That's right, this car doesn't feature the quattro all-wheel drive system, as the thrust is directed to the rear axle instead. Powering it is the usual 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10, which kicks out 532 hp (540 ps/397 kW) and 398 lb-ft (540 Nm). The 62 mph (100 kph) mark is hit 3.7 seconds after setting off, with the Spyder, aka the convertible, being one-tenth slower, and the top speed stands at 198 mph (319 kph).

Only 999 copies of the R8 RWS were made, and it is estimated that 320 of them ended up in the United States. Therefore, if you dare land the pictured one, you'll not only get the accompanying thrills every time you put your right foot down but also a very rare machine. Chances are you'll never encounter one on the open road, and that right there is a great conversation starter in the right circles.

There is, however, a setback, and that's the fact that it has a rebuilt title, the listing reveals. But there shouldn't be an issue with it assuming it was brought back to life the proper way. As for the asking price, that would be $124,900, or about as much as the occasional Corvette Z06 sitting on dealer lots. So, if you had the money, which one would you choose?
