The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is one of those rare types of SUVs that generally hold onto their value extremely well. A lot of times, you’ll see brand-new models selling for over MSRP in flagship spec, and that’s because there’s literally nothing else on the road that looks like a G-Wagen. Mercedes knows this all too well, and they’ve found new ways to capitalize on this vehicle’s extraordinary popularity.
First things first; not all G-Wagens are created equal. You’ve got the so-called entry-level spec, which is the G 550, and then the flagship AMG G 63 model. Of course, some people like to go even further than that, opting for a Brabus tuning package, or maybe something from Hamann or Mansory. Today, we’ll be focusing on the Mercedes-AMG G 63 variant, one that comes with a nice orange twist.

What you’re looking at here is a 2024 G 63 in G Manufaktur Exclusive Edition specification, with just 48 miles on the clock. It’s basically new, and it comes with this amazing Manufaktur Copper Orange Magno finish, accented by the gunmetal grille and various other Night Black Magno accents.

This optional package also adds tinted LED headlights, taillights, and front indicator lights, to go with other highlights such as the sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, Parktronic sensors, running boards, quadruple side-exit exhaust outlets, a receiver hitch, and a set of matte black 22” AMG cross-spoke wheels with 295/40 Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico rubber and silver-finished calipers.

Meanwhile, inside is where you’ll find the AMG Exclusive black Nappa leather seats (massage, heating, ventilation) with diamond-stitching and bronze contrast stitching, but also optional carbon fiber accents (center console, door panels), heated rear seats, three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a Burmester surround sound system, plus the microfiber and carbon fiber-trimmed AMG Performance steering wheel.

This is one of the nicest, if not the nicest G 63 spec we’ve seen since... maybe ever? It just “pops” without being too in-your-face about it. All in all, this SUV boasts over $37,000 worth of optional extras, and an MSRP of $221,950.

So then, what’s the problem? Well, after being up for grabs at auction, the seller (a dealership out of Massachusetts) decided to reject a top bid of $215,000. We’re not sure what the reserve was, but I’m guessing somewhere north of $222k.

Maybe the colorway isn’t to everyone’s liking, but surely there’s somebody out there who’d be willing to pay a tiny bit more for the car, especially since G 63 models with “sick” specs usually do tend to sell for over MSRP, as long as they’re low-mileage examples.

As for what’s going on in terms of performance, well, power comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, sending 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via the carmaker’s nine-speed AMG Speedshift gearbox.
