What's Better, CGI-Slammed: 1968 California Special or a Fresh Chevy Camaro ZL1?

During the early 1960s, Ford set in motion an interesting phenomenon – they unleashed the compact yet sporty Mustang and kicked off the muscle car hornet's nest with the associated creation of the pony car sector.
Many have tried and either succeeded or failed to achieve the same success – and among them, we can always note the Chevrolet Camaro as a very worthy rival. Unfortunately, today, the nameplate has been retired as production of the sixth generation was closed in December 2023 – all you can find today is excess inventory across various dealer locations.

However, plenty of Mustangs also died in the most righteous way. Today, the parallel universes of vehicular CGI decided to play a slammed tune with us in the form of ultra-lowered Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro examples. That's about all they have in common, though.

So, the first one that came across our CGI radar was this digital aftermarket 1968 Ford Mustang build. It's designed by Mike Dog, the author of "bloody renders," aka _mikedog_ on social media, who has gone back to the future of vintage US muscle cars with this idea. As he recently found out there was such a thing as a California Special in 1968 – aka the Mustang GT/CS created by the local Californian dealers, a model considered extremely desirable by today's car collectors.

His take on the matter is a little different, though – starting with the fresh color or the wider fender flares and continuing with the new LED lights, humongous dual-exhaust placed smack in the middle, the rear louvers, plus the massive chrome wheels with big lips and the modern rubber attached to them. It's certainly something that qualifies as a crazy restomod, if we may presume?

Secondly, the other design project competing for our CGI attention was created by the automotive digital artist behind the MalonyxMedia label on social media, who is an expert in crafting little, cartoonish versions of ultra-popular cars. This time around, though, he or she worked on a 'Killer Camaro' – a stanced Chevy Camaro ZL1 that would put that 650 horsepower stable to great use if gifted with this author's impressive aerodynamic tuning kit, the big aftermarket wheels, and the general 'bad boy' attitude.

So, which one is your favorite? Could it be the rather outrageous 1968 Ford Mustang GT/CS California Special classic or the modern Chevy Camaro ZL1 dressed with an extreme body kit that would make any JDM tuning aficionado a little more than just slightly envious? Also, should we trust the recent rumors that point out a quick revival of the Camaro as an affordable EV going back to the pony car basics within the next few years?
