The Jetson One is conquering America for real. After winning the hearts of hundreds of customers who pre-ordered their very own personal electric aircraft, Jetson reached a historic milestone in the US. One of its co-founders, Tomasz Patan, piloted this futuristic flying machine for the first time on US territory, and it was a hit.
Jetson shared footage of one of its most impressive accomplishments so far – the first flight demo successfully conducted in the US. The historic flight took place at the Perot family's Circle T Ranch in Westlake, Texas, on October 5.
It all happened during the UP.Summit 2023, an annual event celebrating the most creative breakthroughs in transportation. Most importantly, it's an invitation-only event, and Jetson was one of the lucky few who got to show Texas folks what this crazy flying concept feels like in real life.
Tomasz Patan himself was the one to conduct the historic flight – no wonder he admitted to staying up all night before the event. This is probably the biggest milestone for the aviation startup after having completed the world's first eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) commute last year.
The Swedish company is serious about strengthening its ties to the US. It officially confirmed that it's looking for future headquarters in America, and the famous artist will.i.am recently became one of its main investors. will.i.am will also be one of the first trained Jetson pilots, just like Matt Byrd, one of the UP.Summit 2023 hosts. It looks like anyone who gets to see the Jetson One up close falls in love.
The futuristic one-seat aircraft has secured hundreds of orders and is almost sold out for 2024. It's undoubtedly the most famous eVTOL of its kind on social media, where people all over the world watched the viral videos of its first flight demos.
This personal electric aircraft is designed to be delivered to your door (needs to be assembled) and ready to fly almost immediately since it doesn't require an existing pilot license (you do need training, however). It currently costs $98,000 and can be pre-ordered with an $8,000 deposit.
The Jetson One is described as "the first affordable eVTOL on the market" that combines a state-of-the-art design (it's made of lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber) with eight motors and intuitive flight controls. It's supposed to be extremely easy to maneuver yet powerful and as safe as possible at the same time. It promises an approximate flight time of 20 minutes and a top speed of 63 mph (102 kph).
After this huge US success, Jetson is showing what the Jetson One eVTOL can do in Europe as well. It recently attended the Zero Emission Mediterranean international conference in Rome, Italy (October 10-12).
