The Bronco Raptor is Ford's most powerful application of the 3.0-liter EcoBoost, a twin-turbocharged V6 that launched in 2016 for the 2017 model year. In the Braptor, it belts out a very respectable 418 ponies and 440 pound-feet (597 Nm) of torque at 2,750 revolutions per minute.
This low-end grunt is more than enough to get its 37-inch tires spinning on every terrain imaginable, but certain people want a bit more from 3.0 liters of displacement. Enter Hennessey Performance Engineering's VelociRaptor 500 package, which – as implied – raises peak output to 500 horses.

Pictured in the clip below doing its thing in a desert wonderland that can also be described as being the perfect playground for an off-road enthusiast, the VelociRaptor 500 feels at home bashing California's Imperial Sand Dunes. Rated at 550 pound-feet (746 Nm) at 3,900 revolutions per minute, this fellow also rides on 37-inch rubber.

Hennessey Performance Engineering used an upgraded heat exchanger and Bronco Raptor-specific engine management software to improve both power and torque. Beyond those, VelociRaptor 500 further means front and rear leveling kits, beefier front and rear bumpers, 20-inch wheels, and WeatherTech floormats to boot.

Backed by a three-year/36,000-mile warranty, which is just under 58,000 kilometers in the vernacular of those who prefer the metric system, VelociRaptor 500 sweetens the deal with a serialized engine bay plaque, VelociRaptor 500 and Hennessey badging, plus embroidered headrests.

Every build is tested up to 500 miles (nearly 805 kilometers) before delivery, with Hennessey limiting production to 200 units for the 2024 model year. Prospective customers are further presented with Heritage Edition livery in white or black. The only problem with the VelociRaptor 500 package is the pricing. Hennessey Performance Engineering introduced this package at the beginning of April 2023, when $32,950 was the advertised starting price. Ford lists the 2024 model year Bronco Raptor at $90,035 before taxes and options, therefore meaning $122,985 sans the destination charge.

Insane money for a mid-size utility vehicle based on the Ranger pickup truck, but looking at the bigger picture, Ford Motor Company also had a part in this by upping the Braptor's MSRP like there's no tomorrow. Care to guess how much of a difference in starting price there is between the 2024 model and the 2022 model? Considering that the latter was originally advertised at $68,500 from the outset, that's $21,535 over two model years.

Adding insult to injury, dealers continue to mark up these vehicles. Worse still, the F-150 Raptor starts at $78,440 and the Raptor 37 package adds $11,470 to the final price. Coincidentally, the featured video includes a Hennessey-tuned F-150 Raptor R.

The R differs from the Raptor by means of a supercharged V8, which produces 720 horsepower following the 2024 model year facelift. After Hennessey Performance Engineering is done modifying it, said 5.2-liter mill cranks out an intimidating 1,043 hp and 824 lb-ft (1,117 Nm).
