The picture above shows a driver from Kent receiving thanks for driving 100,000 miles in his Nissan Leaf. Steve March, a Washington resident, was congratulated yesterday by governor Jay Isley, the state ansportation Secretary Lynn Peterson and representatives from Nissan for his achievement.
"With a daily commute of about 130 miles, I've saved more than $9,000 compared to my old gas-powered car since I bought my LEAF," said Marsh, who credits Washington's strong charging infrastructure. "With plenty of public charging options, as well as a charger installed at my office, my LEAF is a perfect car for my commute."
Unfortunately, not all people are lucky enough to have a working place near their homes and the less fortunate need to deal with a daily commute. For drivers, this means they need to invest quite a lot of money in gas, unless they follow Steve Marsh’s example and ride a Nissan Leaf.
The driver from Kent, Washington bought his Nissan Leaf because he needed a car that would help him with his daily commute of 130-mile (209-km). So, since the Leaf is an electric vehicle, it has fewer routine maintenance costs and a driving range of 75 miles (121 km) which means he had to charge it only 2 times a day. Thus, we can say that the car is pretty good for long distance driving.
His long road to work helped him clock 100,000 miles (160,934km) since he bought the car back in 2011 and as a result he received a personal “Thank You” from state governor Jay Inslee.
