VW Touareg iPhone App Game Reaches 1M Downloads

Since it was introduced at the beginning of May, the Volkswagen “Touareg Challenge” game has managed to “convince” over 1 million fans with iPhones and iPods. The app game, which is available for download free of charge in the App Store, features both the Touareg V6 TDI BlueMotion Technology and the Touareg Hybrid.

Six separate on- and offroad routes, including an ocean drive and an offroad adventure, give users the opportunity to experience the Touareg's inherent versatility. Inspired by rally racing, the routes' stages are timed and must be mastered under various weather and road conditions. Once users have completed a route, they automatically receive access to additional paint jobs and new rims in the game's car configurator,

The game also promotes eco-friendly driving, as users who choose the Touareg Hybrid and use a fuel-efficient driving style receive additional points.

Realistic driving graphics, dynamic lighting effects and individualised control deliver even more driving thrills. Background music to fit the on-screen action pushes virtual driving excitement to the max, with a choice of three bands from the Volkswagen Sound Foundation: Tonbandgerat, jona:S and Jupiter Jones,” stated the press release.

The app comes with a feature that creates a connection between the virtual and the real world, in the form of an integrated function directing users to the nearest Volkswagen dealer. The function can also be used to request product brochures and test drives.

Users can also use the special buttons that are linked to Facebook, Twitter and e-mail to connect and share their driving experience with friends all over the world.
