What do you do when a car nears the end of its life cycle? You buy a body kit in dubious taste and install ridiculous wheels. That's pretty much what happened to the VW Scirocco R once it entered the shop of one Chinese tuning company called Aspec.
As we've told you before, there are two kinds of German cars in China. First, there's the vast majority of models that are produced locally, and then there are ultra-rare imports. These are much more expensive than they should be and get treated as cult collectibles.
Guess which category the Scirocco belongs to! Despite this, Aspec decided to do something to the coupe cousin of the previous Golf. After checking out how they've tuned the Jaguar XE, we've come to realize that the newly founded company from Hong Kong has its own design language already, one which takes the 8-year old Scirocco design to the next level.
The widebody kit begins at the front with a couple of square air intakes that feature matching carbon fiber trim. A deep chin spoiler draws attention to the stance of the coupe, while the upper grille has also been modified extensively. Where the Scirocco had its emblem there, this tuned one moves it on the hood, like the Aud R8.
Speaking of the hood, it's entirely new, featuring carbon vents that are large enough to cool a V8, not just the 430 horsepower 2.0-liter turbo that's under there.
Both the front and the rear fenders have been flared with bolt-on part, in a style that's similar to Rocket Bunny but much cleaner. Meanwhile, the back of the car features the most impressive wing we've ever seen on a front-wheel drive non-racing car. However, it can't eclipse the substantial quad exhaust pipes that look bigger than on any supercar or the carbon fiber trim surrounding them.
Overall, the PPJ430 kit is one heck of a way to say goodbye to the Scirocco R!
