Volkswagen's UK arm has introduced new Black Edition versions of the Polo, Taigo, Golf, and T-Roc locally. These models feature additional black gizmos and several other stuff, and they are said to offer good value for money.
Choosing the Polo and Taigo Black Edition will get you stuff like the black styling pack, Matrix LED headlights, heated front seats, and 17-inch (Polo) and 18-inch (Taigo) alloys. The supermini comes exclusively with a 1.0L TSI gasoline engine making 115 ps (113 hp/85 kW), and it is paired with a DSG 'box. The crossover is also available with this powertrain, with manual and automatic transmissions, and it can also be ordered with the 150 ps (148 hp/110 kW) 1.5L TSI DSG.

Compared to the R-Line trim level on which the Polo and Taigo Black Edition are built, they cost £500 (equal to $633) more. This means the VW Polo Black Edition is available from £24,815 ($31,410) and the Taigo Black Edition starts at £31,100 ($39,365). The cost of additional features over the Polo R-Line and Taigo R-line are £2,765 ($3,500) and £2,675 ($3,386), respectively, which is why the German car manufacturer says they are good value for money.

The Volkswagen Golf Black Edition gets the same black styling package representing the black roof, roof rails, side mirror casings, decorative trim, alloy wheels, and tinted rear windows. It rides on 18-inch wheels, comes with Matrix LED headlights, has Winter Pack, and a wireless charging pad. The T-Roc is also equipped with 18-inch alloys, black styling pack, Matrix LED headlights, and a wireless smartphone charging pad, and already benefited from the heated front seats.

Choosing the Golf Black Edition means settling for the 1.5-liter gasoline burner, which makes 150 ps (148 hp/110 kW) and is hooked up to a manual gearbox solely. The T-Roc Black Edition comes with the same motor in the same configuration, yet besides the manual 'box, it is also available with a DSG self-shifting transmission.

The pricing increase over the standard Golf R-line and T-Roc R-Line is £1,000 ($1,266). This means the new Volkswagen Golf Black Edition starts at £31,285 (equal to $39,599) in the United Kingdom, and its high-riding equivalent can be ordered from £35,405 ($44,814). The extra features added on the Golf Black Edition cost £3,185 ($4,031), and those on the T-Roc are £3,875 ($4,905).

All prices include tax and Volkswagen says the Black Edition versions of the Polo, Taigo, T-Roc and Golf will be available to order starting from July 4, 2024, in the United Kingdom. Do you think these are indeed good value for money, and would you want the German automaker to launch these models in our market? Your opinion matters, so speak your mind below.
