Back a few months ago, we tested the Volvo V40 Cross Country in top-of-the-line T5 spec. While the performance wasn't as good as you might expect from a 254 PS engine and the boot wasn't that big, there was plenty to like about the car, from the cool design, to the premium feel and the safety gizmos.
Soon, customers in Australia will get to sample this crossover as well, as the V40 Cross Country has just gone on sale there. Only two models will be available though, but cosnidering they're the best ones there isn't much reason to complain.
The cheapest car will be the D4 Luxury, priced at AU$47,990. It's equipped with a powerful diesel 2-liter engine rated at 130 kW (177 PS) and 400 Nm of torque. This eficient sips fuel at the rate of 5.3 liters every 100 km and reaches 100 km/h in a very respectable 8.3 seconds.
In Australia, the T5 AWD model that we tested will cost a hefty AU$52,990. For that, you get a 2-liter turbo petrol engine rated at 187 kW (254 PS) and 360 Nm of torque. Thanks to a standard start/stop feature, it drinks 8.4 liters of fuel every 100 km, not bad when you consider it gets to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.
