You know the Chinese obsession with rear legroom, right? Almost every luxury car is offered there with a long wheelbase for that matter and the Volvo S60 makes no exception. The good news is that the same car, the S60L, made its stateside debut at NAIAS now and will be soon offered here for sale as the Volvo S60 Inscription.
If it’s good for wealthy Chinese businessmen it could be the same for some United States customers too and after it’s debut at the 2013 Guangzhou Motor Show, here it is - the S60L reaches US shores bringing best in class space and luxury amenities for whoever is interested in such model.

“As a part of our revitalisation of the Volvo Brand in the United States we have undertaken extensive research reaffirming what our customers want and have come to expect from Volvo Cars," said Lex Kerssemakers, Senior Vice President, Product Strategy & Vehicle Line Management at Volvo Car Group.

“What we have added to the S60 Inscription is a luxurious edge using the most natural materials, attention to detail and our iconic Scandinavian design language,” he added.

In the details

The distance between the S60’s axles is increased by 3.2 inches (8.1 cm) now measuring a total of 112.5 inches (2.85 m), a difference that will be felt by rear passengers, where the total space gains 3.4 inches (8.6 cm) at knee-level.

A range of new materials have been added to the package as a bonus, including Linear Walnut trimmings and silk metal detailing. The exterior is adorned with a set of unique carved 19-inch rims, while the interior also gets accent lighting and branded tread plates.

You’ll be able to get a Volvo S60 Inscription in two variants: Premier, which features leather upholstery, sunroof, Sensus Navigation; and Platinum, coming with added Sensus tech pack, Harman Kardon audio system, dual Xenon headlights and a convenience pack.

Both models will be available with the T5 2.5-liter turbocharged engine making 250 hp mated to either a front- or all-wheel drive system through a six-speed automatic transmission.
