Volvo is making sustained efforts to keep the C30 Electric under the spotlights and the carmaker has recently released a new promo clip for the vehicle, with the video being focused on the car’s climate control system.
This has been designed to be as energy-efficiency as possible, in order to help the car offer a superior drivign range in cold climates. We are dealing with a pre-conditioning system that relies on an immersion heater to bring up the temperature in the cabin and heat up the battery when the vehicle is in the charging process.
The feature is automatically activated when the temperature in the core of the battery hits 15 degrees C (5 degrees F). The system also uses an optional fuel-heater that can use either petrol or bio-ethanol. This increases the vehicle’s range as it uses less energy than the standard electric heater. Volvo promises that the cabin can be warmed up in a few minutes, so the passengers should also be pleased with the system.
