If you're in the market for a German SUV with coupe looks, there's really only one choice right now, the X6. BMW received a lot of criticism for the crammed rear seats, but in the end the market spoke and now all other premium carmakers started work on their own Sports Activity Coupes (SUV).
Volkswagen is arriving fashionably late to the SUV party, but it seems they are dressed to the nines.
A few leaked photos sketches of a concept car called the CrossBlue Coupe have emerged, giving us a rough idea of what we'll see at this weeks 2013 Auto Shanghai.
The CrossBlue Concept is already familiar to us, having made its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January, as a six-seater crossover. So, will we have more of the same in China? Definitely not, as the coupe version appears completely original, more like a wider Tiguan than a jacked up MPV.
Volkswagen is playing all its crossover cards close to the chest. Auto Motor und Sport, who released these leaked photos, says the CrossBlue Coupe Concept is 4.89 meters long, 2.02 meters wide and has a 2.98-meter wheelbase. Volkswagen currently offers the Tiguan in the 4.4 meter class and the Toureg in the 4.8 meter class, os this is quite big by comparison.
Power comes from a V6 TSI working with electric motors to deliver a combined 415 PS for a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds and fuel consumption of just 3 l/100km.
