Volkswagen has launched the new Up! city car in Australia, where this diminutive model will be available for AUD13,990 starting on October 6th.
This will only get you the base car with a three-door configuration, but the Up! will also be available as a five-door from $14,990. All the cars will be imported from Europe, where they are built at the Volkswagen plant in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The powertrain will consist of a small three-clyinder petrol engine with 55 kW (75 hp) of power, and mated only to a five-speed gearbox. Combine, they will provide fuel consumption of 4.9 L/100km on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 114 g/km.
The Up! will arrive fitted as standard with City Emergency Braking function, which at speeds of between 5km/h to 30km/h detects the risk of an impending collision and can reduce accident severity by initiating automatic brake interventions to avoid the crash.
