The production version of the Volkswagen Taigun Concept crossover SUV was reportedly unveiled by a batch of Chinese patent sketches.
At first glance, the vehicle’s design looks the same as the concept car introduced at the 2012 Sao Paulo International Auto Show, and our first guess would be that the Taigun may enter production without Volkswagen applying any body styling alterations.
On the other hand, these images could be the result of the German automaker trademarking the Taigun Concept in China, since the exhaust and wheel architecture don’t look like they could be fitted to a production small SUV that’s developed to be affordable.
Until we can gather any additional information, we’ll remind you that the Taigun Concept is powereb by a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine good for 110 PS and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) of torque. Production date details are still unknown, but it’s expected to hit the assembly line in 2014.
Check out the sketches in our photo gallery section below. We’ve added a couple with the concept car for comparison purposes.
