The seventh generation of the Volkswagen Golf is scheduled to be launched this autumn at the Paris Motor Show and so far the German carmaker has managed to keep most of the details hidden.
Thus, we’ve decided to put all the rumors and spyshots together and create the adjacent rendering, which should come pretty close to what the visitors of the French event will meet.
The compact will be underpinned by VW’s new MQB modular platform, which will allow it to shed around 100 lbs (50 kg). This will be only one of the moves that will allow the car to offer a boost in terms of efficiency, with a range of state-of-the-art engines being another one.
Oil burning lovers will enjoy a TDI range, while those who prefer petrol will be happy to dream of the hot GTI and R versions, which will ditch the EA112 two-liter turbo four in favor of the new EA888 powerplant. In addition to that, all-wheel drive will no longer just be offered on the R go-fast version, but also on mid-range engines. Subsequently, VW will also offer a plug-in hybrid version of the car.
