Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 Goes on Sale Today

Ever since the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 was unveiled at the Wörthersee GTI meeting back in June, we were waiting for the car to truly be unleashed, or, in other words, to go on sale.

Well ,today is that special day - you can walk up to a VW dealership and simply buy a GTI Edition 35. We'll remind you what you receive if you do so.

To be more specific, you can now place an order for such a car, with the first deliveries scheduled to take place next month.

The vehicle's turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers 235 hp (25 more than the standard GTI) at 5,500 rpm, as well as 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque at 2,200 rpm.

The front-wheel-drive hot hatch needs 6.6 seconds to cover the 0 to 62 mph sprint and can hit a top speed of 153 mph (246 km/h).

So, how can you distinguish it from a standard GTI? Well, you get a new bodykit incorporating new side skirts and a revised front bumper which sits below bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, unique lightweight 18-inch ‘Watkins Glen’ alloy wheels, finished in ‘Dark Steel’ or silver, as well as an Edition 35 badge on the front wing, gloss black door mirror casings, rear windows with 90 per cent tinted glass and rear tinted LED lights.

The bespoke story goes on in the interior, where you receive ‘35’ signatures on multiple elements, along with a red stripe on the seatbelts and the GTI ‘golf ball’ gearknob, which is offered for both the manual and the double-clutch DSG transmission.
