Of course, this could all be easily considered a marketing ruse because the German carmaker isn't exactly a sales powerhouse in the United States – just 82k deliveries during the first quarter of the year.
Naturally, the company would love to point out that during the January to March period of this year, its sales jumped 21% compared to the same time last year. Curiously, it was the passenger car section that drove the biggest numbers in terms of percentage gains, while the crossover SUVs were actually the bulk of sales.

Luckily, Volkswagen is actively trying to ensure the gains will remain positive – and organically, not artificially. As such, they have prepared a fresh 2025 model year, as every vehicle in the family has been updated over the past few years.

The brand also banks on the active Car-Net enrollment to offer new features like ChatGPT integration, and most 2025MY vehicles will start arriving across the nationwide dealership network beginning in September, with the entire range up for grabs during the early part of next year.

The Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport models received a major refresh for the 2024MY, featuring a more elegant interior and a further refined turbocharged engine; the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport midsize SUVs return to the Volkswagen lineup mostly unchanged in five trims, with the SEL R-Line Black trim on Atlas Cross Sport getting black trim 20-inch black aluminum-alloy wheels outside, plus a leather-wrapped steering wheel and stainless-steel pedal covers.

New for 2025MY is the standard 15W wireless charging and Light Assist on all grades, while the SEL Premium R-Line gets new features and comfort creatures. Both the Atlas and Atlas Cross Spor now have new colors like Mountain Lake Blue and Avocado Green, while the Pure Grey is now available on Atlas without selecting the Peak Edition trim.

The Golf GTI and R (which is about to get refreshed in European specification at the end of the month) will arrive with their respective facelifts in the United States, but more details will be shared ahead of their market introduction in early 2025. Volkswagen's all-electric ID.4 was also upgraded for 2024MY with new infotainment system features, new software, a new rear electric motor with 282 hp for RWD or 335 hp for AWD versions, and an improved EPA-estimated range of up to 291 moles.

For the 2025 model year, the EV will have no less than seven grades – the mid-tier S models with the 62-kWh battery get a standard 12.9-inch display with backlit sliders and ventilated front-row seats. S and S Plus now have an optional Black Package. The ID.Buzz is an all-new model for 2025, while the Jetta and Jetta GLI will gain a refresh during the second quarter of the year, followed by Taos with a facelift during the third quarter and an all-new third-generation Tiguan.
