Alfa Romeo is trying to revive its success story with the latest models and ideas – the exotic 33 Stradale will debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed for the first time on British soil, and the Junior, which sits at the other end of the product line's spectrum will also attend the legendary event.
Alfa Romeo is currently geared towards an electrified future – aside from the refreshed Giulia sedan and Stelvio crossover SUV, its other all-new models are all sustainable. The Tonale compact crossover SUV can be ordered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the ultra-exotic 33 Stradale can be had with a V6 or all-electric power under the hood, and the new Junior subcompact crossover SUV also gains a battery-based setup – even the 240-hp Veloce model.

On the other hand, they are signaling the end of an era as we need to pour one out for Alfa Romeo's Quadrifoglio performance lineup in America, at least for the time being. The company is discontinuing both the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio after the 2024 model year. Still, we're told by the rumor mill that the Head of North American Operations, Larry Dominique, has announced the clover-badged models will return to the region in the near future with hybrid or all-electric oomph.

As such, it's clear that Alfa Romeo is trying both to renew the lineup and to revolutionize powertrains. It remains to be seen if this will be sustainable but there are many plans that could set in motion the arrival of even more nameplates – including some that are revived from the glorious past. For example, a while back, the brand's chief designer told the rumor mill that a long-awaited successor of the Alfa Romeo GTV coupe that could take inspiration from the (in)famous Alfa Romeo SZ could arrive as soon as 2026 or 2027.

Naturally, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is never too far from these rumors, and Avarvarii Automotive Artworks (aka avarvarii on social media) has taken a good, extended look at Alfa Romeo's plans and come up with a vision for an all-electric return of the SZ. That's a direct revival of the SZ (Sprint Zagato) rather than a follow-up to the Alfa Romeo GTV, and even the pixel master doesn't have too much faith in his vision – he labels the potential level of accuracy at just 25%!

No matter, we are pretty sure that 'Il Mostro' (the monster in Italian) has a few loyal fans that wouldn't mind if this not-so-beautiful car returns to life looking almost the same as the original from 1989-1991 but with the underpinnings and technology of the mid-2020s. So, what do you think – is this CGI design project a yay or a nay?
