With the official unveiling right around the corner, BMW's M Division took to YouTube a few hours ago to release a teaser video of the upcoming M5 Sedan and M5 Touring.
The footage is one minute and forty seconds long. It shows some of the iconic duo's development process, from the closed gates in various facilities where engineers made some critical adjustments to the open road and various test tracks worldwide, where the models were potted to some tire-shredding tests.

It is worth noting that the 2025 M5 Sedan and M5 Touring don't boast a lot of visual muscles. Mind you, that doesn't mean you'll easily mistake them for the regular 5ers, as BMW M made sure that they sport bigger bumpers, more aggressive diffusers, and a few other visual tweaks, including the typical M logos and exclusive wheels and tires. Let's not forget about the quad exhaust pipes, either.

Since the automotive world is not ready to ditch the V8 firepower yet (all hail the mighty V8!), the next M5 duo will make use of an eight-cylinder engine in a V arrangement. Reports speak of a 4.4-liter unit with twin turbocharging. The lump will feature electric assistance, and some voices say it might be the same powertrain as the one on the XM Label.

We hope they are right. After all, the XM Label unleashes 738 horsepower (750 ps/550 kW) and 738 pound-feet (1,000 Nm) of torque every time the person behind the wheel abuses the right pedal. This much oomph would make it punchier than the previous M5 CS, which could sprint to sixty (97 kph) in just 2.9 seconds.

However, due to the added weight of the electric assistance, the all-new M5 Sedan may be one or two-tenths slower. But we wouldn't worry about that at all. If anything, it leaves room for a future M5 CS, which would be capable of hunting supercars in straight-line acceleration, all while retaining its posh interior and all the amenities required from an executive model. It would also be very fast on racetracks despite its size and weight.

The xDrive all-wheel drive system with a lot of M tuning will still be a thing, and as you already know, the 2025 BMW M5 will be capable of drifting just as well as a rear-wheel-drive car half its size. It is not only the four-door M5 that will cross the Atlantic Ocean and end up in dealers on this side of the world, as the 2025 M5 Touring (station wagon) is also coming to our shores.

BMW has yet to reveal the unveiling date, yet we think the next M5 is a few weeks away from being shown in all its glory.
