Vauxhall is preparing to give us the Astra VXR at the Geneva Motor Show (the same goes for the Opel Astra OPC) and the company is now offering us a taste of the vehicle’s special seats.
The hot hatch’s front seats are inspired by racing ones, offer a low position and are seriously lighter than conventional ones. The last assets comes thanks to their construction: they are built sing an injection moulded sheet in the seat shells, which cuts weight by 45 per cent compared with a conventional shell.
The sheet is filled with a mixture of polyamide and fiberglass, which comes with a strength that allows it to be two or three mm deep.
The seats are mounted 17 mm lower than in the Astra GTC and 40 mm lower than in the Astra hatch, thus lowering the OPC’s center of gravity. One of their most special features is the fact that they offer pneumatically-adjustable cushions, placed in the flanks.
We’ll remind you that the Astra VXR will allow the driver to play with 280 hp and a peak torque of 400 Nm, with the unit pushing the car onto a top speed of 250 km/h (155 km/h).
