Vanilla Ice has had this Ford Mustang since 1989. The car showed up in the "Ice Ice Baby" music video. The rapper could never give it up. Furthermore, it pampered it and trailer-queened it everywhere. Now, the restoration of the pony car has just been completed, and Vanilla Ice is ready to drive it down the beach road in Miami.
"Rollin' in my 5.0
With my rag-top down so my hair can blow […]
The block was dead, yo
So I continued to A1A Beachfront Avenue."

This is what Vanilla Ice, on his real name Robert van Winkle, rapped in 1990 in "Ice Ice Baby." He showed up in the music video of the super hit in the company of a Fox-Body Ford Mustang GT 5.0.

Over three decades later, Robert still owns that Mustang. And he is bringing back the good old days, because now he is going to do just like the song says: go down the A1A Beachfront Avenue in his 35-year-old convertible.

His Mustang has recently been restored. The videos uploaded to the rapper's YouTube channel don't mention the exact mods the convertible received. But Robert pops up the hood to show a beautifully designed engine cover. From the conversation, we understand that the Mustang got a new engine, which only clocked about 10 miles. So this is the first time it has driven so far.

Four years ago, the Mustang had gone through another restoration, one that lasted for four years. The procedure reportedly brought the car closer to its stock version on the outside. The model ditched the Sateen-style rear wing that it sported in the video from 1990. Back then, it rode on a set of Fittipaldi wheels, but the way the car is filmed in the new video does not disclose much. So, we can't tell if it still has those wheels or not.

The Mustang sports an interior, trunk and engine compartment that are completely custom. The seats and door cards are wrapped in two-tone red and white leather and Alcantara, with contrasting diamond stitching, while the trunk displays the exact same style. It seems that the red stripes also vanished from the hood, bumpers, and beltline.

During the drive, Vanilla Ice Ice says he doesn’t really drive this car as it mostly stays in the museum. The museum holds his impressive car collection. Earlier this year, he took his white Ferrari F8 Spider for a spin, but told everyone that "Nothing out there compares to my baby." His "baby" is the 5.0 V8 Mustang.

Back in March, he and his friend, Fred Fishback, told the story of the blue Lamborghini Murcielago that had previously belonged to 50 Cent. The rapper had left something in the car when he sold it. Fred found a quarter and looked for another, thinking it was a hidden message from the seller.
