An important trend in the luxury leisure and superyacht world is the demand for bespoke designs. The wealthy people who aspire to own their own luxury watercraft are not looking for standard, off-the-shelf yachts. They want their floating villas to reflect their personalities and be tailored to cater to their every need and desire. Directly stimulated by the ambitious end users, shipyards are increasingly focusing on offering custom and semi-custom designs.
The latest shipyard to announce a new line of fully customizable superyachts is VanDutch Yachts. The renowned Netherlands-based brand has developed a new collection of bespoke yacht models in collaboration with Barry Hartman's studio Hartform Yacht Design.

The new superyacht line will comprise no less than six models ranging from 24 to 120 meters (80 to 394 feet) in length, including the VD80, VD100, VD160, VD200, VD230, and the flagship VD400. Up until now, the largest model in the yard's portfolio was VanDutch 75, at 22.8 meters long, so this new line represents a huge leap forward for the brand.

All the yachts in the new line will be fully customizable, allowing clients to specify every detail, from the stateroom arrangement and configuration of entertainment spaces to the color scheme and interior finishes. This will allow future owners to feel completely at home and comfortable on their yachts.

Each member of the new line will be constructed in aluminum and boast thoughtful designs that harmonize elegant aesthetics with functional living spaces, ensuring a sophisticated and comfortable yachting experience. Notable features on the exterior are the impeccably sleek, straight lines and VanDutch Yachts' signature straight bow, which combine to create a powerful, flowing profile that delights the eye.

"The VanDutch Yachts superyacht line is a testament to the brand's commitment to innovation and excellence. Featuring exclusive and high-end materials, these yachts are designed with the utmost attention to detail and quality," said VanDutch Yachts in a statement. "With the launch of the superyacht line, VanDutch Yachts continues to push the boundaries of high-performance and luxury maritime experiences."

Modern yacht owners have varying preferences when it comes to their vessels in terms of both length and amenities, so VanDutch's new line offers something for everyone. The entry-level VD80 model, for instance, is designed to accommodate up to six guests, while the flagship VD400, with its generous 5,500 GT of interior volume, will offer accommodation for a party of 24 people and a crew of 32.

The smallest yacht in the series, the VD80, is also the most agile of the lot. It comes equipped with twin MAN V12 2,200 hp engines that propel it to a nauseating top speed of 46 knots (53 mph) and a cruising speed of 34 knots (39 mph).

The VD230, meanwhile, is designed with versatility in mind, offering clients the option to choose between four different configurations for the foredeck. This area of the yacht can house a swimming pool or serve as a tender garage, but it can also be configured as a touch-and-go helipad or an outdoor entertainment area.

Founded in 2008, VanDutch introduced its first yacht in 2009. The shipyard focuses on building yachts aimed primarily at the luxury segment, and its designs are known for blending creative design and exceptional craftsmanship. In 2020, the Dutch yard was acquired by Italian manufacturer Cantiere Del Pardo.
