First announced in early April, the new AGV Pista GP racing helmet was supposed to be available starting with October 2013. AGV has released official pictures of the new helmet in all its three versions, Project 46, Elements and Soleluna 2013, and we're happy to introduce the new lid to you.
First of all, the Pista GP was developed and tested in collaboration with MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi and it sports several features which can be found in Vale's actual racing helmet.
The AGV Pista GP is claimed to offer 193% better ventilation, with a 15% wider field of vision. The carbon fiber shell was redesigned for better aerodynamics at high speed, with a revised rear spoiler for increased stability.
The inner liners are fully removable and washable, and they're made with in Lycra micro-porous and Dry-comfort fabrics which have received a sanitizing treatment, with multiple sizes for the cheek pads. The visor is a RACE 2 flat, non-scratch one, equipped with a Pinlock anti-fog lens and also can be used with tear-off strips.
Pista GP also comes with an Extra Quick Release System (XQRS) for the visor: a roto-translation opening made from metal an providing toll-less removal and replacement of visors in just seconds.
The double D strap retention system was only natural, too.
AGV offers the Pista GP in 4 shell sizes, while the internal EPS liner is available in sizes XS through XXL. According to Dealer News, the AGV Pista GP will be available in the US in limited quantities only, for around $1,399 (€1,035) a pop.
