Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt – we could go on and on about his track records, but what you really need to know is that the man is a three-time World and Olympic gold medalist, while also world record holder – paid an unexpected visit to Ferrari's headquarters in Maranello earlier this week.
Considered to be one of the most popular sportsmen on Planet Earth – and we're not to dispute that – Bolt was given the chance to drive around the Fiorano testing track in a Ferrari 458 Italia and 599 GTB Fiorano. Of course, he was initially a co-driver for test-drivers Dario Benuzzi and Raffaele De Simone, after which he was left all alone to enjoy the thrills of driving such fast cars on a circuit.
“It's a little bit like me, very reactive and determined!” exalted Bolt after driving the 458 Italia, after admitting he couldn't get enough of the car throughout the day.
On the other end, he joked about his first experience at the wheel of the car on a wet track, as he was showed how to control it by test-driver Benuzzi.
“I was really scared, but it was a good scare. I'm excited like a child,” admitted Bolt, while also sharing his mixed emotions after Ferrari's defeat in the Formula One world championship.
“Today. I feel very close to the team. I am sorry for yesterday's result, but that's sport, I know what I'm talking about. There are ups and downs, but it's important to know how to get back on the track and I'm convinced that Ferrari knows how to do that,” added Bolt, who ended the day in a personal meeting with Ferrari CEO, Amedeo Felisa, at Ferrari's personalization area.
