Ford Motor Company, Dreamworks Studios and Electronic Arts have announced that the Ford Mustang will play the lead car hero role in the upcoming “Need for Speed” movie, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters in February 2014.
As one would expect, the hero car won’t be just a regular Mustang, but a one-of-a-kind, customized pony that will feature a more aggressive look. According to Ford, the musclecar will be enhanced by a custom widebody kit, a lowered suspension, bespoke 22-inch wheels and new high-tech LED halo lamps around the air intakes.
“We’re thrilled to have Ford play such an important part in a film adapted from one of the most popular video games of all time,” said Keith Koeppen, Ford marketing communications manager. “Mustang has an incredible history appearing in movies and ‘Need for Speed’ will be a great way to continue its hero car legacy.”
The Ford Mustang has already featured in movies such as “Goldfinger” and “Diamonds are Forever”, both from the James Bond series, Steve McQueen’s “Bullit” and “Gone in Sixty Seconds”.
