Having risen for the last five consecutive months, UK car sales have gotten a big boost in July - 9.3%, to be precise. The main seller of the country is the Ford Fiesta, which comprised 7,533 units, of the 143,884 total number. It is followed by the Vaxhall Corsa (5,809) and the Astra (5,211), and the former favourite car in the Isles, the Ford Focus, which is just ahead of VW’s Golf.
Also, this year, new and better finance deals have also allowed a rise in the number of cars bought with dealer finance - 73.4% of new cars (27% increase when compared to 2011). According to John Leech, from KPMG (financial services company), “Firstly, dealers report that consumers are playing catch-up as they become less concerned about job insecurity [. . .] Secondly, this year has seen a big push by car manufacturers with a higher than normal release of new models. They’re offering large discounts, too.”
With this recent boost in mind, the forecast for the complete number of new cars bought in the UK in 2012 is 1.97-million - 30,000 than originally anticipated.
