The fourth-gen Honda Integra Type R came with a pretty rad K-series engine, a four-cylinder lump that produces maximum power at 8,000 revolutions per minute. How many ponies? That would be 217 horsepower fully stock, with torque coming in at 152 lb-ft (206 Nm) at 7,000 rpm.
Pictured at Santa Pod Raceway in the United Kingdom, the heavily modified ITR owned by Jamie from Officially Gassed puts out a little over 900 horsepower at the wheels. All four of them! Equipped with drag radials fore and aft, said Integra Type R is a 2002 model with beadlock wheels, carbon seats, a rear-seat delete, a fuel cell rather than a fuel tank, and a sequential tranny.

Good for around 1,030 horsepower at the crankshaft on 40 pounds per square inch of boost and with E112 ethanol race fuel, which is best described as leaded E85, this fellow is much obliged to prove itself against a very different animal in the form of a G80 M3 Competition.

The xDrive-equipped sedan is owned by Rhys Herd of R44 Performance, who tells the Hooligan crew that it's making around 1,000 horses at the crank. That's in the ballpark of 900 horsepower at the wheels from a built six-cylinder mill with hybrid turbos, new internals, and extra cooling.

Dropped on Vossens and Michelins for the front axle, this M3 Competition xDrive sweetens the deal with Rhys-designed rear wheels mounted with drag radials. At circa 3,800 pounds (1,724 kilograms) compared to 2,770 pounds (1,256 kilograms) for Jamie's Integra Type R, the ZF 8HP-equipped M3 is quite a bit of a porker.

Even so, it certainly does not disappoint in the quarter. Rhys clocked 10.296 seconds at 141.66 miles per hour (228 kilometers per hour) in the first of three runs, posting a best of 9.571 seconds at 143.52 miles per hour (231 kilometers per hour) in the second race. However, Jamie had the upper hand in the 22-year-old Integra Type R.

Although it's harder to launch without any drama, the Honda blitzed the quarter mile in a staggering 9.285 seconds at 154.75 miles per hour (249 kilometers per hour) in the first dig race. Reaction time, however, favors Rhys and his BMW M3.

BMW revised the M3 for model year 2025 with more oomph for the Competition xDrive, namely 523 ponies compared to the pre-facelift's 510 horsepower. There's a zero-emission M3 in the works for 2027 based on the Neue Klasse 3 Series, with the all-electric M3 believed to pack four electric motors. If the hearsay is correct, look forward to the ZA0 sedan and the ZA1 wagon.

As for Honda, the Integra nameplate currently applies to a Chinese-market compact with Civic underpinnings and the Acura Integra. The Civic Type R-twinned Integra Type S is the punchiest of the lot, for it produces 320 horsepower and 310 pound-feet (420 Nm) versus 315 for the CTR.
