Looking more like an off-roader from 20 years ago than a modern-day track attacker, the Travec Tecdrah TTi was revealed today to the automotive world. Supposedly, it’s based on the Dacia Duster and will hit the German market some time next year.
While the body shares no resemblance with the Duster, the manufacturer says the engine range, all-wheel drive and interior have all been kept. However, the Tecdrah uses a brand new chassis made from steel onto which the tubular body is placed. As for the body panels, those are made up of ABS plastic, used to same weight.
The advantage of all this re-engineering is that the whole thing weighs about a ton, depending on the engine you want and the drivetrain. What’s more, the chassis will last 25 years against the weather and the body does not need painting.
Inside, you’ve got seating for four people, while the engine range starts with a 1.6-liter gasoline and there’s also the 1.5 dCi to consider if you want economy.
