The automotive producers pay a lot of attention to developing their fleet business, with the segment bringing important deals every year.
The latest major fleet-deal around the world comes from New Zealand, where Toyota announced that it has reached an agreement with the country’s government for offering Prius and Hybrid Camry models to complete the official vehicle pool, as topnews.net.nz writes.
Two other automotive producers are included in the contract, with the government set to receive a total of 18,000 vehicles as part of the contract.
Steve Pragnell, Toyota’s General Manager of Sales and Operations and Company Spokesman, said that the contract has been awarded to the company thanks to the fact that it offers a complete mobility solution. In other words, Toyota’s offer covers warranty costs, fuel costs, as well as emissions and resale value, managing to reduce the overall price for using a vehicle.
“Through the long-lasting relationship with Government departments, Toyota has developed real insights into the specialist requirements. We can provide a vehicle for every need, including reliable famed workhorses such as the Corolla and Hilux,” the executive was quoted as saying by the aforementioned source.
Toyota is starting to send the two plug-in hybrid models to San Francisco. 150 units have already been sent to locations around North and South Carolina. The vehicles will join the official fleet as soon as they are shipped.
The contract is valid until 2012 and also includes other terms. As part of the agreement, Toyota will offer minibuses and light vehicles for the government.
