After revealing the fifth generation in New York earlier this year, Toyota confirmed the RAV4 would drop the 2.0-liter D-4D in Europe because electrification is the future for the Japanese automaker. Fast-forward to December 2018, and Toyota is much obliged to reveal the pricing for the RAV4 Hybrid in the United Kingdom.
The Icon is the entry-level configuration, priced at £29,635. This specification features a continuously variable transmission, front-wheel drive, Hybrid Synergy Drive, and the 2.5-liter Dynamic Force Engine with VVT-iE technology. The cheapest Hybrid AWD-i is available on the Design, retailing at £33,430 compared to £31,190 for the front-wheel-drive option.
What do you get as standard? The Icon kicks off with 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, automatic Parabola LED headlights, rear parking sensors and camera, rain-sensing wipers, push-button start, roof rails, power-adjustable heated mirrors with auto-folding, seven-inch TFT multi-information display, Toyota Touch 2 with an eight-inch touchscreen, and Toyota Safety Sense 2.
Satellite navigation and front parking sensors are standard on the Design, while the Excel (£33,610 and £35,850) sweetens the deal with leather upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, memory function for the driver’s seat, and projector LED headlights. The most expensive RAV4 Hybrid available is the Dynamic, priced at £34,400 and £36,640 with Hybrid AWD-i.
As the name implies, the Dynamic is more about styling than anything else, adding bi-tone metallic paint, sports seats, black 18-inch alloy wheels, and so forth. No less than nine exterior colors are available, and on the Excel, customers can choose black, grey, or beige for the leather upholstery.
Underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is much obliged to deliver 215 brake horsepower. Opt for the all-wheel-drive option, and you’re looking at 219 bhp.
Retailers are already accepting pre-orders for the RAV4 Hybrid, which will be launched in the United Kingdom in February 2019. Deliveries of FWD models will commence in April while Hybrid AWD-i models will follow in May.
