Toyota Prius GT300 Race Car Catches Fire

Has Toyota caught the Ferrari curse? Is there an innate reason for which a hybrid race car deserves to burn?
All we know is that a really slick and evil looking Toyota Prius was supposed to race in the 2012 season of Japan’s Super GT, which is a sort of touring car championship. Big hopes were placed on the Prius and a Honda CRZ hybrid to spruce up the sport’s image and liven up the action.

However, the car raced by team APR in the GT300 class caught fire during a test session on the Okyama circuit.

According to AutoBuzz, the fault was with a fuel line that ruptured, not the battery in the hybrid drive system. The car will reportedly be repaired for the Okyama race which is in just a few weeks.
