Top Gear has had a very successful run with Jeremy Clarkson, so much so that we know a lot of people who can't drive but have Stig shirts. Like all good things, the show has come to an end and people are looking back at their favorite moments, episodes and funny bits.
But we never expected to see official acknowledgement of Jeremy's career from Toyota UK. Aston, Land Rover or Jaguar… yes, but never Toyota. After all, Jezza has had nasty things to say about most cars made by the Japanese automaker.
Not only that, but Top Gear made it their goal to try and destroy a Toyota Hilux. After dropping it from a crane, placing it on top of a building that was being demolished and leaving it in the ocean for hours, they concluded that the pickup was immortal. Top Gear also crashed the Yaris hatchback in Australia while Clarkson was racing a yacht. I guess that's what you call a love-hate relationship, right?
But the Corolla got the worst treatment of all. Back in Spring 1997, when the old Top Gear format was around and they tested boring cars, Jeremy tested the Corolla and compared it to a refrigerator.
Of course, every cloud has its silver lining. While the lead singer of this car show hates most Toyotas, he had only nice things to say about the GT 86 (Scion FR-S). His track review gave birth to one of the funniest gifs on the internet.
And on that bombshell, we leave you with the Toyota "best bits" tribute video and a very important question: what's your favorite moment of the show?
