The Toyota GT 86 and the Subaru BRZ are all about driving fun and both automakers are now highliting this through the launch of Purist versions on the Japanese market, with the two vehicles being stripped down versions that offer extraordinary performance for money.
The Toyota GT 86 and Subaru BRZ are set to be released in Japan in March with a base price of JPY2,058,000 (USD26,490 or EUR16,750) and JPY1,990,000 (USD25,625 or EUR16,200), respectively (the models are known as the RA and RC, respectively).
The vehicles make due without features like air conditioning, audio system, door lamps, leather finish for certain parts of the interior, aluminum pedals, silver trimming, as well as trunk light or trimming / matt.
The vehicles can be recognized by the lack of fog lamps, while the Toyota comes with black bumpers, side mirrors and rear spoiler. Both models come with 16-inch steel wheels instead of the standard 17-inch alloy rims.
As for the tech side, the rear axle has lost the ventilated brake rotors, while all the brake discs now measure 15 inches in diameter. In addition to that, the torsen rear LSD has been replaced with a mechanical one. Thus, the vehicles are not only more affordable, but also 40 kg (88 lbs) lighter.
