Toyota’s Chinese subsidiary and its two local joint ventures reported sales of about 82,400 units in October this year, representing a huge 80.6 percent increase from the same period in 2012.
The huge sales raise is explained by the fact that last September, Japan nationalized some disputed islands in the East China Sea, action that led to anti-Japan riots which also affected the sales of Japanese products, including Toyota vehicles.
The situations seems to have had extinguished as the last month’s sales increase follows another one of 63.5 percent from September.
China is a big market for Toyota, offering over 20 models for the local consumers, including the Crown, Land Cruiser Prado, Hiace, Reiz, FJ Cruiser and RAV4 models.
