Even if you have properly adjusted your side mirrors, there can be vehicles in your vicinity that you can’t see in the rearview mirrors if they get into the blind spot, especially small sized vehicles like bikes or mopeds.
Toyota’s new Blind Spot Monitoring system warns you of vehicles that you can’t see in the mirror by constantly scanning the areas outside of the driver’s view with sub-millimeter radars.
If a vehicle is present in the blind spot, an orange sign will light up in the respective mirror to inform the driver about its presence. If the driver signals to change lanes toward the unseen vehicle, the blind-spot monitoring system will flash the orange light on the mirror to further attract the driver’s attention.
