Toro Rosso Tested the STR5 One More Time, at Imola

While all the other teams have terminated their on-track testing period prior to the start of the new season, Scuderia Toro Rosso took its STR5 to the circuit one last time before the season opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

As most of the important outfits have proceeded to promotional runs for their cars in recent weeks (done for filming purposes), the Faenza based team made no exception, giving both its racers the chance to drive the 2010 challenger for some additional laps on the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola.

However, the team is yet to confirm that the outing was done for promotional purposes. We just assumed that's what happened, as the FIA rules regarding the in-season testing ban (except for the already scheduled sessions) are quite strict.

Although the track has changed it has not lost its qualities. I would like to have taken the car to its limit,” Spanish racer Jaime Alguersuari was quoted as saying after the Imola test.

Until a few years ago, Imola has been a constant presence in the Formula One Championship, being the host of the San Marino Grand Prix. The reason why the Faenza based team has picked the aforementioned track to do their outing is very simple, as their headquarters is located only a few kilometers from the northern Italy track.

As reported by the GMM news agency, the test was quite private, as only a few hundreds spectators were seen in the grandstands of the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
