For years now, TomTom has striven to become a friend of the drivers around the world. Its products, better or worse than those of its competitors, have managed to catch on on a large scale, while TomTom's approach to GPS voices, for instance, has managed to capture the imagination of many. But we reckon none of TomTom's products will be as loved as the one announced today by the Navigation solutions provider: the Speed Cameras detector.
Now, the product is not a camera detector per se, as it is not used to pinpoint the location of cameras. That is not necessary, as the hardware already knows where cameras are.
As most of the TomTom products, the Speed Cameras gadget is based on the input provided by the drivers themselves. Combining that with the field work of its employees, TomTom managed to create quite a comprehensive map of cameras of all types across the world.
The gadget will provide access to the location of fixed speed, red light, average speed, toll road and restricted area cameras in 34 countries from all over the world. Speed Cameras requires a TomTom navigation solution to be installed on your car. More details about the new product can be found by accessing the following link.
"With Speed Cameras, TomTom's licensing partners can add more valuable content to their applications and gain access to potential revenue streams from a new service," says Maarten van Gool, TomTom Licensing managing director. "The release of this new product demonstrates TomTom's commitment to enhancing the driver experience with innovative location content and services."
