While most of the world is fixated on travel trailers, RVs, and other massive habitats, some of us just need a truck and a bed-mounted half-shell to enjoy the greater outdoors with the biggest of grins. With that in mind, let's dive deeper into Modern Buggy RV's TC-10, AKA the Truck Camper.
Honestly, there's no need to call the TC-10 anything other than Truck Camper, as it's all rather self-explanatory, especially once you get to know a bit about the minds and hands behind the wonder before us. That would be none other than Modern Buggy RV, and if you ever come across their website, you'll notice that they typically design and manufacture travel trailer campers of all shapes and sizes, some of which are huge and include more features than some RVs. But they currently manufacture only one Truck Camper - another model is coming soon - so dust off that truck bed, and let's see what's in store.

For starters, allow me to point out that the features we'll be running through today are for nothing other than the 2025 TC-10s, so Modern Buggy is a bit ahead of the curve compared to most other camper and RV manufacturers on the market.

As for what the TC-10 can do and who it'll serve best, we're looking at a unit designed not only to accommodate a traveling couple but is also ready for a small family. This is made possible due to an interior that has that sweet cab-over bedding area, but the dinette can double as another sleeping area, too. If you're traveling as a couple, it's perfect if you disagree on who is supposed to wash the dishes.

Since our attention is currently on the interior, let's continue our tour with a quaint solid-surface galley block tucked away near the entrance. It's here that we find features like a two-burner top, fridge, drawers and cubbies for spices and utensils. There's a microwave and an on-demand water heater, too. The latter is supplied by nothing more than 11 gals (42 l) of fresh water, but that's a number that can be expanded with some extra jugs.

A few other kick-knacks we find inside include a Maxx air vent, side windows, USB charge ports and lighting, but most importantly, access to your control panel for your Renogy solar power setup and batteries, not to mention all of the above. To complete the picture, you'll need to grab a portable toilet and outdoor shower.

As for the shell itself, there isn't a whole lot of info on how Modern Buggy brings it to life, but we do know that Azdel is used to bring the walls, roof, and ceiling to life. That said, it's probably not a walkable roof, so be sure to load it up within the limits set by the manufacturer. Best of all, those walls are insulated up to an R7 rating, so a heater should do fine if you want to venture a tad into the off-season.

The question is, what sort of outdoor lifestyle can we lead with a TC-10? To answer that question, let's take a short trip through imagination. I want you to picture yourself reaching some hidden orchard in the middle of nowhere; to get here, you relied on your truck's off-road capabilities; one of the benefits of a truck camper.

From here, you can go about things one of two ways: either leave the TC-10 mounted onto your truck or unload it and set your stallion free, only to be used later for hitting up the local dunes or riverbeds. Personally, I'll be unloading my unit.

Once that's done, it's time to set up your campsite. For a few hundred dollars more, you'll be able to add a shower annex to your TC-10 and even grab that toilet we need. Since Modern Buggy also has an option for awnings, your campsite is sure to have an outdoor dining set or just a couple of lawn chairs sitting in the shade.

As the day goes on, that golden hour glow begins to set upon the world and the TC-10, and as the light fades and stars rise above, you signal to the world that life is found where you're standing with an orange glow of your own, caused by the fire pitched a few feet away. Yup, it's time for some S'mores, if you ask me. With your significant other and possible child or children around, what more could you ask for?

But how much is this lifestyle going to cost us? Well, this is where I encountered a tad of a problem. I wasn't able to find any dealers in my area and several others that may have a TC-10 in stock. So, you'll have to just give old Modern Buggy a call and go from there; I'm sure you can strike a deal with this crew.
