There are lots of quirky tiny house designs out there, but this one belongs in a league of its own. We're actually talking about two separate homes built on separate trailers but designed to operate together as a single unit. One is a completely functional tiny home, and the other is basically a self-contained bedroom. Together, they form a holiday unit for off-grid family or group getaways in remote locations.
The couple who founded Little Latitude Homes in 2019 designed and built eight-and-a-half homes on wheels over the course of four years. It sounds like a mistake, but it's not – the dwellings known as Little Latitude Homes 5 A and B are a complete tiny home and a self-contained bedroom, each built on a separate trailer. They are not technically connected but only make sense as a whole. Better said, the separate bedroom on wheels works as an independent annex to the main tiny home.

The idea was to create the perfect setting for remote holiday accommodation. The main unit is 7.5 meters long (24.6 feet) and includes a sleep/lounge area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a separate bathroom, all on one level. Plus, it has a spacious rear cabinet for utilities. The smaller dwelling is only 2.4 meters long (7.8 feet) and is configured as a self-contained bedroom. If positioned as pictured above, the two units can connect via an added deck and an added exterior staircase.

The main house was actually built with two fold-down decks, one on each side, as well as an awning for each. There are two decks because this contemporary-style indoor/outdoor layout features two separate entries. The sliding glass doors on each side easily blur the line between the inside and the outside, effectively expanding the living areas out in nature. Despite its rugged exterior look and off-grid capabilities, the LLH 5 is remarkably elegant and modern on the inside, which includes extensive glazing and wide openings.

Both units were designed in the same style, with modern features and vivid blue furniture and accents. The blue items and honey-toned woodwork create a visually striking décor balanced out by the simple white walls. The main house reveals a fresh, modern, open-concept layout without any formal separations between the living areas.

One end of the house is dedicated to the versatile lounge that can also double as an open-style bedroom. Huge windows surround it with views of the natural surroundings, for an immersive experience. The convertible sofa is a custom-made, built-in feature with integrated storage. A relatively large transition area is specifically designed to turn into an outdoor socializing space when the doors on both sides are fully open.

This transition area also includes a versatile setup with a table and a couple of chairs. It's mainly a dining ensemble, but one that takes up minimal space and can easily be moved; plus, it could even double as a spacious desk. The blue kitchen looks great and is well-equipped for an off-grid vacation home. The birch plywood cabinets and pine shelves offer abundant storage, keeping this open cooking space clutter-free.

The bathroom sits behind a sliding barn-style door that doubles as a decorative item due to its striking blue color. It's elegantly fitted with a slim vanity and a deep-set cabinet with open shelves; deep-set shelves are great in terms of space efficiency and one of the trademarks of this Tasmanian brand. The toilet is a waterless model, part of the off-grid package, along with the gas on-demand water heater. You'll also notice the solar panels on the rooftop.

As you can see, the LLH 5 boasts all the amenities you'd want in a modern vacation home on wheels. Sometimes, a separate bedroom unit can be attached to a tiny home so that there's more floor space for other living areas in the main house. Still, that's not the case with LLH 5. This tiny home has everything it needs, and the half-tiny is just an added bonus: an extra bedroom for one.

This quirky half-tiny (lovingly referred to by the builder as "the Tiny Tiny") looks pretty much like a children's room. It comes with a single bed with spacious storage bins underneath and a classic desk with a chair. Slim shelving all across the walls provides some extra storage, and a big window keeps this self-contained room ventilated and bright. Style-wise, it looks similar to the main home.

What's unusual is that it comes on its own trailer, which was even made by a different company than the one that supplied the trailer for the main unit. This means that the two dwellings need to be towed separately, which complicates things a bit in terms of relocation. Still, it's also a versatile solution, allowing them to be used separately or together, making this a three-in-one mobile unit.

With or without its quirky annex, the LLH 5 is a fine example of self-sufficient mobile housing. It boasts not only a smart, contemporary layout but also fold-down decks on each side and off-grid capabilities. It's like an all-in-one vacation resort on wheels, perfect for glamping in remote locations. Adding the half-tiny allows it to accommodate more guests without compromising its compact, mobile qualities. Together, these two make a good team for outdoor family adventures.
