Even the most compact homes on wheels can hide magical wonderlands; smart design and perfect craftsmanship have the power to breathe life into these dwellings despite their size limitations and to turn customers' dream homes into reality. This custom-designed tiny house boasts a strong personality and an irresistible feminine charm.
When this Tasmania-based builder shared the first images of The Bothy tiny house on social media, the caption said it all: "When the bathroom is your favorite room in the house." Spacious and stunningly glamorous, this bespoke bathroom seemed to belong in a modern princess's castle, the kind of castle that most little girls dream about.

Rustic, contemporary, and with a subtle touch of glam, The Bothy revealed an uber-feminine design with a lovely ambiance. It was eclectic, girly, and inviting. Built as a one-bedroom home with a fully-equipped kitchen, a versatile lounge area, and a spectacular bathroom, this custom tiny could have easily operated as a princess-style Airbnb for romantic getaways.

Interestingly enough, even though it was adequately equipped, it wasn't meant to be used as a full-time residence; instead, the home's creative owner simply wanted a beautiful, cozy, and unique home office that could become a permanent home one day. One thing's for sure: this home's adorable interior style made it highly remarkable and surprisingly versatile.

The Bothy is named after the traditional small cottages found in Scotland in honor of the owner's parents. Indeed, it is the size of a hut (6.6 meters/21.6 feet long and 2.4 meters/7.8 feet wide) as well as its cozy, warm ambiance. On the outside, this home looks almost stealthy and easily blends with its surroundings due to the dark-colored cladding. What stands out is the specific texture and look of the timber due to the Shou Sugi Bani charring technique, which also makes the timber more durable.

The interior gives off an entirely different vibe; it's luminous, airy, and as glamorous as a miniature castle without covering the rustic feel of the woodwork. As mentioned in the beginning, the bathroom takes center stage, which instantly makes The Bothy different from any other home in its size category. The tiled feature wall in shades of pastel pink looks like a work of art. It instantly elevates the bathroom's style and is perhaps the home's most memorable feature. The matching copper tapware completes that princess glam look.

No glam bathroom would be complete without a big bathtub, and The Bothy doesn't disappoint. The owner specifically asked for a full-size free-standing bathtub, complete with an elegant vintage vanity. The composting toilet is the main modern element in this retro glam bathroom worthy of a princess. Terrazzo tiles were used for the floor, and there was enough room left to add extra shelves for storage. A simple sliding door keeps this bathroom separate from the rest of the house, but there's also a private glass door that connects it straight to the outside and a large window; you could think of this room as a self-contained, spa-like sanctuary within the home.

Glamorous copper accents were also used throughout the home for a cohesive style. In the kitchen, they look wonderful against the emerald green tiled backsplash; in the loft area, the copper safety barrier and basic handrail add a sophisticated touch. The staircase itself doubles as a convenient storage solution with multiple integrated compartments.

Another feature wall catches the eye as we head upstairs, but this time, it’s an emerald-green wooden one. It adds a refreshing pop of color and visual depth that makes the room seem bigger. Thanks to the copper barrier, the bedroom isn't isolated, and the beautiful feature wall can easily be admired from downstairs. A queen-sized bed is flanked by large windows and gorgeous handmade bedside tables matching the retro style of the bathroom vanity.

An oversized painting brings together the main colors in The Bothy's feminine palette for a put-together, dainty look. This elegant abode is also very practical thanks to the flexible open-space area that is both a lounge and an office. A large, fold-down desk easily turns this space into an office, complete with the plug-ins needed in a modern work area. Plus, the strategic placement in front of the oversized window ensures abundant natural light.

Even in home office mode, this part of the house is still big enough to include a lovely relaxation corner with a rustic round table and a couple of seats. When the desk isn't folded down, the lounge becomes even more generous, also doubling as a cozy dining area. The desk itself could easily double as a typical Aussie breakfast bar for two, with the perfect view of the natural surroundings – you can see why this lounge section is so versatile.

One of The Bothy's magic tricks is the abundant storage despite its size limitations. All the storage solutions were so cleverly incorporated that they seemed invisible, taking up almost no space at all. Most of them are found in the kitchen area, and they include a full-size wardrobe and a pantry.

There are no bulky overhead cupboards, only delicate corner shelves and a bigger one above the countertop, close to the entrance. Large glass doors and numerous windows open The Bothy to its natural surroundings while still maintaining a sense of privacy.

Behind the dark, charred exterior, this custom tiny home reveals one of the most interesting, eclectic interiors with a lovely glam touch. Rustic elements were skillfully blended with elegant, feminine accents; together with the clever layout that enhances functionality, this resulted in a truly unforgettable, inspiring home on wheels.
