Summer is in full swing in many parts of the world, and outdoor enthusiasts are out there exploring new locations and enjoying nature along the way. And though you'll see no shortage of travel trailers, truck campers, teardrops, and larger RVs on the roads, at national parks, or near beaches, camper vans are still considered by many the ultimate adventure vehicles.
Compact, nimble, easy to maneuver, and ready to roll whenever you decide to heed adventure's call, these Class B motorhomes are actually so popular in the US that new conversion companies are popping up by the day. As such, nowadays, it might be hard to stand out in the highly competitive camper van market, but Southern California-based Exodus Builds has managed to grab our attention with a stunning adventure van perfect for both weekend adventurers and nomads who want to live in a van full time.

Exodus Builds specializes in luxury bespoke camper conversions and strives to provide exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail with each new build it delivers. But don't just take our word for it; check for yourself by browsing the photos in the attached gallery. What you're seeing is a 2022 4x4 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 144" that has been transformed from a basic mode of transportation into a cozy and inviting home on wheels.

This unique masterpiece is called Aurora and is the latest van built by the skilled Californian team. Designed for all-season boondocking, this camper van combines reliable off-road capability with rugged durability and comfortable living quarters to offer you the freedom to roam off the beaten path any day of the year while enjoying the comforts of home.

Finished in Stone Gray, the van's exterior boasts some elements that will instantly give away its boondocking camper personality. Not only is the van well-equipped for taking you to far-flung destinations with Black Rhino Arsenal wheels and BF Goodrich K02 tires for the best traction possible, but it also boasts a low-profile roof rack, wind fairing, Flarespace body flares, a side access ladder, and solar panels mounted on the roof. A rooftop Pelican cargo case for extra storage and a Fiamma awning for shade and shelter are also included in the design.

The interior, meanwhile, is expertly crafted to keep you comfortable in any weather conditions. It features quality thermal and acoustic insulation, a thermostat-controlled Espar S2 D2L diesel heater, and a Maxxair fan and skylight.

In terms of styling, the designers went for a modern industrial aesthetic that harmoniously combines custom black cabinetry with plenty of wooden elements, like a stunning continuous cedar strip ceiling, hickory waterproof laminate flooring, and acacia butcher block countertops with walnut finishes. Black hardware throughout and dimmable warm lights accentuate the industrial look and, at the same time, create a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Aurora boasts an open layout, with no separation between the driver's cab and the actual living space, which makes the interior feel more spacious. As you slide open the side door, the first thing you see is the kitchen, which occupies the space behind the driver's seat. There is also a seating area next to the entrance, while the rear of the van is dedicated to the sleeping space.

The kitchen is beautifully finished in a combination of black and wood and looks modern and functional. The acacia hardwood countertop offers enough space for meal prep, a couple of cupboards and some drawers can keep your cooking essentials, while a deep sink with cutting board cover, a portable stove, and a 12-Volt 4.6-cu-ft refrigerator and freezer neatly tucked away under the counter ensure you can cook your favorite meals during your camping adventures.

The lounge/dining area is right next to the entrance and comprises a spacious bench and a Lagun table mount with a custom walnut table top. With the side door open, it's a nice spot to have a meal, chat with your companions, or even work on your computer while enjoying the breeze. The passenger seat swivels around to face the back of the van, offering even more seating space.

Unlike other camper conversions where the seating bench has integrated storage space, Aurora's large bench hides an entire bathroom underneath. Lift the lid, and you'll discover a cleverly designed shower and a composting separator toilet that can be removed when you want to use the shower.

Finally, the bedroom area at the rear includes a queen-size bed and mattress on a raised platform. Insulated Flarespace body flares add some extra inches of space in this area to allow owners to sleep sideways. Under the bed, a large garage accessible from the outside offers plenty of space to store boards, fishing poles, skis, and other outdoor equipment.

Speaking of storage space, there is no shortage of it inside this van. Apart from the overhead cabinets in the kitchen and bedroom area, there is also a headliner storage shelf with integrated blackout curtains, integrated shoe storage, pocket door panels for even more storage, and a valuables storage vault hidden under the bed, all of which demonstrate the thoughtful use of space.

Other noteworthy features that make Aurora a great rig for adventurers include an outdoor shower, a ceiling hatch above the bed, and a drop-down outdoor cooking table. Various 120V outlets, two USB charging stations, and an upgraded WeBoost Cellular Signal Repeater make it suitable for digital nomads who plan on working on the road as well.

For prolonged stays in the wilderness, Aurora comes equipped with a 36-gallon fresh water tank (located inside to prevent freezing), two gray water tanks (a 20-gallon one for the kitchen and an 11-gallon tank for the shower), and a smart Victron electrical system that brings together 400 watts of solar panels, a 360-watt DC/DC charger, a massive 3000-watt Multiplus inverter, and a 600Ah battery bank.

If you've been looking for a reliable, four-season-ready camper designed for a quick load and go, the Sprinter-based Aurora van conversion from Exodus Builds might be the rig that would turn your boondocking dreams into reality. This ready-built camper is now available for purchase for $179,000.
