Trying to sell a used Lucid Air in today’s automotive climate is like trying to win the Copa America with Team USA. Difficult and messy. In fact, I’d wager that the U.S. stands a higher chance of winning a major international trophy in soccer than you do, as a Lucid Air owner, of selling your car for anything even remotely resembling an acceptable price.
Used EV values are crashing harder than the housing market in 2008. It’s enough to make a man question the very legitimacy of EV ownership in the first place. Initially, one of the major selling points would have been the strong resale value, seeing as how EVs cost a lot less in terms of maintenance compared to internal combustion engine cars.

Things turned out very differently though, and in a way, it makes sense – because as aggressive as EV-makers have been in recent years, there’s no denying the fact that such vehicles are still in their infancy, and growing pains are to be expected. The tech is far from perfect, and until they figure out a way to make smaller, more lightweight batteries that double or even triple the average range we see today, most people will still prefer a good old-fashioned ICE car.

Anyway, if you needed a reminder of where things stand for people trying to get rid of used EVs (especially premium models), we’ve got yet another Lucid Air for you to marvel at. This time we’re looking at a 2022 Grand Touring spec vehicle, with 5,000 miles on the clock. This thing cost $140,500 when new, and just recently, the highest anybody was willing to bid on it was $61,111. That’s less than half its MSRP.

In terms of features, highlights include the Infinite Black Metallic exterior, soft-close doors with retracting illuminated handles, adaptive LED headlights, heated and folding mirrors, a set of 21” Aero Blade wheels with 265/35 Pirelli P Zero tires, adaptive suspension, a Mojave scheme interior with Lucid Black and Graphite leather, a four-zone automatic climate control system, heated rear seats, power-operated rear sunshades, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 21-speaker Surreal Sound audio system, among others.

As for what this can do in terms of performance, it’s got a dual motor setup that combines for 819 horsepower and 885 lb-ft of torque. Everything is hitting all four wheels at the same time, allowing you to rocket from zero to 60 mph (97 kph) in just 3.0 seconds. In terms of range, you can expect around 469 miles on those 21” wheels, but I wouldn’t bet any money on it.

Obviously, this isn’t the first Lucid Air that got embarrassed at auction these past few months. If you’d like to read up on another one, we’ve got you covered right here.
