Is there anybody who doesn’t love the Challenger Hellcat at this point? I’m seriously curious, because if we take all the cars that have “broken the Internet” over this last decade or so, I think the Hellcat might just be the least polarizing.
Think about it. What have we seen break the Internet during that period? It kind of started with the Nissan GT-R in the late 2000s, the “Holy Trinity” of hypercars, and then came along the Tesla Model S (followed by every single other Tesla), the Hellcat-spec Charger and Challenger, the C8 Corvette, plus a handful of other highly interesting cars.
With the Vette, not everyone liked the styling, which is as true now as it was back in 2019 when it made its official debut. Meanwhile, Tesla continues to split opinions to this day simply by being a battery-electric vehicle. Hellcats, on the other hand, well everyone loves them, right? They are unapologetic, and they never pretend to be something they’re not.
So, whether it’s the “base-spec” SRT Hellcat or any of its derivatives (Redeye, Demon, Redeye Jailbreak, Super Stock), you know exactly what you’re getting and there’s little to no chance you’ll end up dissatisfied with the performance – or the styling for that matter. These things look timeless.
Case in point, this 2022 Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak, up for grabs to the highest bidder with just 149 miles on its supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 masterpiece.
The exterior is finished in White Knuckle, to go with the satin black front and rear spoilers, Redeye badging and the Black Vapor chrome dual exhaust outlets. Other highlights include the widebody fenders (duh!), chin spoiler guards, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, HID Air-Catcher headlights, and the 20-inch Warp-Speed wheels with Pirelli P-Zero All-Season tires and red-finished Brembos.
Moving on to the interior, you’ve got your Black Nappa leather and Alcantara seats with embroidered SRT logos on the backrests, plus amenities such as heated, ventilated and power-adjustable functions for those very same seats, keyless entry, push-button start, the Uconnect infotainment system, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, additional Jailbreak badging, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters.
As for that Hemi V8, normally it would have put down 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque, but thanks to the Jailbreak package, output is now 807 horsepower, while the torque figure remains unchanged – everything goes to the rear wheels via an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic gearbox.
This engine also comes with an After-Run Chiller and an SRT Power Chiller, with the latter utilizing the air conditioning refrigerant to cool the air that comes into the intake ports.
When it was brand-spanking new, this car retailed for $93,020, options included. With just a few hours left in the auction, I think that if anybody can grab it for less than 90k, they should call that a major win.
